Men's basketball falls at home to Brockport

Joe Bull scores 30 points

Despite a collegiate best 30 points by sophomore Joseph Bull (Bronx, NY/Mount St. Michael Academy), the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team fell at home to Brockport 86-75.  Bull followed up last night's collegiate best 26 points with an even better performance today.  Bull made 12-of-22 shots including 4-of-7 from behind the arc while also collecting a collegiate best 13 rebounds.

Bull, along with junior Kevin Mackin (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet), combined for 30 of Oneonta's 48 points in the second half, as the Red Dragons nearly came all the way back after trailing by 20 points at halftime.  Mackin started to heat up from long range scoring 13 of his 19 points in the second half.

Oneonta (6-6, 1-5 SUNYAC) turned up the defensive pressure in the opening eight minutes of the second half cutting its deficit into single digits when junior Ian Schultz (Clifton Park, NY/CBA) made a jumper making the score 58-49.

Over the next three minutes the lead for Brockport (10-4, 6-1 SUNYAC) kept going between double and single digits.  Another layup by Schultz at the 9:35 mark got Oneonta as close at it would be for the remainder of the contest at seven points.  The Golden Eagles used a 12-2 run late to pull away.

Oneonta turned 14 offensive rebounds into 19 second chance points.

Brockport's bench scored 33 points in the game including 20 in the second half.  They scored 34 points in the paint and scored 25 points on turnovers.  Brockport shot 58 percent from the field including 71 percent in the first half.  The Golden Eagles started the game making its first eight shots of the contest.
