The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to Morrisville State in non-conference action Thursday evening. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 2-7 on the year.
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) led the Red Dragons with eight kills and a .286 hitting percentage.
Victoria Moulder (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) also collected eight kills while delivering two blocks.
Jessica Fowler (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) dished out 28 assists while
Delaney Dower (Oneonta/Oneonta) had 15 digs.
In the first set of the evening, The Red Dragons took a 12-8 lead on a
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) kill. The Mustangs came galloping back with a 7-1 run to take the lead for good. Oneonta would pull within a point on a service ace by
Lindsay Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson), but Morrisville wouldn't' allow the Red Dragons to get any closer.
In the second set, Oneonta battled the Mustangs in a back and forth battle. With the set tied at 15-15, Morrisville went on a 4-0 run and never relinquished the lead again. After the Red Dragons earned the first point in the third set, Morrisville tallied three straight points and never looked back the rest of the way, taking the final set 25-16.
SUNY Oneonta returns to action tomorrow night when they play Hilbert College at the Hartwick Invitational beginning at 6:00 p.m.
