Geneva, NY – The SUNY Oneonta Women's Tennis Team put their 12-4 record on the line against 20
th ranked William Smith College today at the Indoor Tennis Center on the campus of William Smith.
The Red Dragons quickly found out why the Herons were number 20 in the Northeast. Although each court was competitive, Oneonta could not get the big points at the important times and dropped all three of the doubles contests to start the match.
Down 3-0 after doubles the Red Dragons were also shutout in singles play. Noteworthy efforts were from number one player junior
Alyssa Brault (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) who played tremendously competitive tennis but again could not convert on the pivotal points losing 6-2, 6-2. At number two, freshman
Julieta Eulau (Oceanside/Oceanside) lost by only two breaks and fell 6-4, 6-4. Freshman
Mya Lipscomb (Peekskill/Walter Panas) suffered only her second defeat on the year today losing in the third position. At fourth singles junior
Michelle Halpern (Rye Brook/Blind Brook) took a 3-2 lead in the first set and then won only two of the next ten games succumbing 6-3, 6-2. The match at fifth singles saw senior
Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) play a tight first actually up 4-3 but could not get any closer dropping 9 of the next 11 games faltering 6-4, 6-2.
The Red Dragons will try and regroup and get back in the winning column on Wednesday, April 11
th as they take on Union College on the campus of Union in Schenectady, NY beginning at 4 PM.
