Middletown, CT. The SUNY Oneonta wrestling came away 1-2 at Wesleyan University today. Joining the Red Dragons at the quad were No.3 Ithaca College and Williams College. Oneonta lone win for the afternoon was against Williams 34-9.  Senior Austin Sisco (Denville, NJ/Pope John) led the Red Dragons with a 3-0 at 133 lbs. At the conclusion of the day, the Red Dragons dual record fell to 11-4.

The Red Dragons opened the quad meet with a dual against Ithaca. The Red Dragons managed only two wins in falling to the Bombers 33-6.  The wins came from Sisco and sophomore Tyler Brazinski (Johnson City/Johnson City) at 149 lbs. with a 3-2 decision.

In the next match up, the Red Dragons took down the Williams College Ephs, 34-9. The Red Dragons started off in a hole, 6-0 after dropping the 125 lbs. class via pin. They rallied around Sisco with a tech fall that led to taking the next three classes (141 lbs, 149 lbs and 157 lbs) to take a 16-6 lead. The Red Dragons carried the lead to the 184 lbs. class where Lantze Lange (Smithtown/Smithtown West) iced the match with a pin in 48 seconds.

The last dual of the day came against host Wesleyan University. The Red Dragons took an 8-4 win with wins from Sisco via tech fall and sophomore Kevin Knox (Stormville/Carmel) won via decision 6-4 at 141 lbs. Oneonta gained the lead back two more times during the match with a pin at 165 lbs. by Ryan Marszal (Unadilla/Unatego) in 44 seconds and a decision by Marszal to give the Red Dragons a 17-16 lead.  A pin for the hosts at 197 lbs. left it in the hands of heavyweight James Bethel (Saugerties/Saugerties) who could only manage a decision win, which was two points short.

The Red Dragons are back in action for its final home match of the regular season this Wednesday, Feb. 7th against Oswego beginning at 7pm.
