The SUNY Oneonta earned a split on the second day of SUNYAC pool play Saturday afternoon at New Paltz. The Red Dragons fell to Fredonia 3-2 before capturing the nightcap 3-1 over Plattsburgh. The Red Dragons are now 2-4 in the SUNYAC and 8-14 overall.
Against Fredonia, the Red Dragons took the second and fourth sets 25-17 before losing the fifth set 15-13.Â
Gillian Stieglitz (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson) led Oneonta with 18 kills to earn a .256 hitting percentage.
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) and
Victoria Moulder (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) combined for 28 kills.
Lindsay Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) added 22 digs while
Jessica Fowler (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) dished out 46 assists.
Against Plattsburgh, Oneonta took the first set 25-17 before falling in the second set 26-16. The Red Dragons captured the final two sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-19.
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) led the way with 15 kills, a .306 hitting percentage and four solo blocks.
Victoria Moulder (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) added 12 kills while
Juliann Posch (Brookhaven/Bellport) chipped in with 11.
Jessica Fowler (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) dished out 46 assists and
Lindsay Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) collected 36 digs.
The Red Dragons return to action on Friday, October 12
th when they play St. John Fisher at the Oswego Invitational beginning at 7:00 p.m.
