The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team fell to Union College 3-1 in the opener of the Oswego Invitational. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 8-15 on the year. Oneonta took the first set 25-20 before dropping the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-13.
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) paced the Red Dragons with 13 kills, a .345 hitting percentage and three blocks.
Gillian Stieglitz (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson) turned in a nine kill performance while
Juliann Posch (Brookhaven/Bellport) chipped in with eight kills and a team high 14 digs.
Jessica Fowler (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) dished out 35 assists while
Lindsay Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) delivered three service aces.
Oneonta earned a .238 hitting percentage in the first set before struggling in the final three sets to finish with a .133 for the match.
The Red Dragons return to the court tomorrow when they face St. John Fisher at noon, before battling host Oswego at 2:00 p.m.
