The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team fell to Ithaca College 6-2 in non-conference action Wednesday evening. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 10-7 on the year.
Ithaca jumped in front early when Jacqueline Mirabile scored in a scrum in front of the Oneonta net. In the 19
th minute the Bombers increased their lead to 2-0 on a Matalie Millken goal on a penalty corner. Maria McGloin sent the Bombers into the break with her ninth goal of the season with 42 seconds remaining in the half.
Ithaca added to their lead in the 49
th minute when Meg Dowd deflected a shot from Maddy Ryan into the back of the net. After a Samantha Horowitz goal gave the Bombers a commanding 5-0 lead, Oneonta finally got on the board when freshman
Catherine Soults (Clinton/Clinton) netted her third goal of the season. Meg Dowd added her second goal of the game in the 64
th minute to put the Bombers in front 6-1.
Molly McAvoy (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) found
Alise Anson (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) by the right post in the 67
th minute to make the final score 6-2.
Carly Olseon played the majority of the game in net for the Red Dragons, making four saves in the loss.
The Red Dragons return to action on Saturday, October 27
th when they host RPI on Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
