A 17-0 run midway through the first half by visiting Plattsburgh gave them the momentum they needed en route to a lopsided 97-60 win against host SUNY Oneonta in men's basketball action today. The Red Dragons, winners in five of its last six games entering today's contest, shot only 33 percent in the loss.

Dwayne Freeman (Schenectady/Notre-Dame Bishop Gibbons) and sophomore
Kevin Mackin (Nanuet/Nanuet) both scored 14 points in the game to lead Oneonta (11-7, 7-5 SUNYAC). One bright spot in the game was an 18-13 rebound advantage off the offensive glass.

Oneonta's only lead of the game came when Mackin buried a three to give the Red Dragons a 3-2 lead in the first minute of the contest. Five minutes later, Mackin made another three to pull Oneonta to within one point at 13-12.

Plattsburgh (14-4, 12-1 SUNYAC) began to create some breathing room around the 10-minute mark prior to its big run that blew the half open. Senior Eli Bryant started and ended the run while scoring 10 of the 17 points. Bryant led all scorers in the game with 21 points in 23 minutes off the bench.

The Cardinals shot 53 percent overall in the first half including 8-of-11 from deep to build a 46-22 lead at the break. They finished the game shooting just over 50 percent while making 14-of-27 shots from behind the arc.

Oneonta will play its final home game of the regular season this Tuesday against Williams College beginning at 7pm in the Dewar Arena.
