Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's lacrosse downed by No. 18 Hamilton

The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team held its own for most of the first half against No. 18 Hamilton, before the Continentals closed the half with six unanswered goals on its way to a 17-8 victory.  The Red Dragons pushed back early in the second half, but Hamilton regained control to pick up a road win.

Oneonta (2-3) junior Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) started the scoring today with an unassisted tally just 1:26 into the contest.  Ten minutes later Darby Philbrick tied the game on a free position goal before Casey fed classmate Lindsey Rose (Camillus/West Genesee) who buried a shot in the back of the goal to give the Red Dragons the lead back.

Casey assisted on Oneonta's third goal as well, as she centered a pass to sophomore Kelsey Cohen (Baldwin/Baldwin) who scored her first goal of the game to put Oneonta in front again 3-2.

Hamilton (3-3) then seized control of the contest running off six straight goals in the final 10 minutes of the half including three from senior Morgan Fletcher.  Fletcher also added an assist on the Continentals' fifth goal, which was scored by Alex Hendry.

Senior Katie Flannery (Massapequa/Plainedge) scored 33 seconds into the second half to jump start Oneonta.  Cohen and Casey tacked on back-to-back goals pulling Oneonta to within 10-6 less than six minutes into the half.

Unfortunately, four goals are as close as Oneonta would get for the remainder of the contest.  Sophomore Danielle McIvor (Nanuet/Clarkstown) tallied the final goal for Oneonta with the assist going to Casey at the 12:46 mark.  Hamilton closed the game with the final four goals including a pair by sophomore Kara Pooley.

Sophomore goalie Jaclyn Marry (Long Beach/Long Beach) registered eight saves in the first half while freshman Lexi Keen (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) made six saves in the second half for Oneonta.

Three Hamilton goalies combined to make seven saves today with the win going to starter Hannah Burrall.

Oneonta will have some time before its next game on Wednesday, Mar. 29 at home versus Hartwick College beginning at 1:30pm.
