The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team hosted its rival SUNY Cortland tonight in Chase Gymnasium, Oneonta, NY. Oneonta came into the match with a 7-1-1 record overall while Cortland entered 10-6.

The night opened up with four exhibition matches. In the first match at 165 lbs. Thomas Marrone (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) won by technical fall against Matt Davis in 4:17. In the second match, Oneonta sent out Ralph Cazzetta (Hauppauge/Hauppauge) at 174 lbs. to face Josh Farrar. Farrar edged Cazzetta in a tight match by decision (4-3). In the third match at 149 lbs., Cortland's Jarrod Mauge would win by decision against Oneonta's Austin Gross (Bellport/Bellport) (8-7). In the last match before the regular dual, Kevin Morgans pinned Timothy Flower (Rotterdam/Schalmont) in 4:38.

Tonight's full dual started at 184 lbs. with Oneonta sophomore Lantze Lange (Smithtown/Smithtown West) against Deuly Espinal. Espinal gave Cortland at 6-0 lead with a pin in 6:53. The next match featured sophomore Peter Pjetri (Suffern/Suffern) versus Nick Bellenza at 197 lbs.. Bellenza extended Cortland's lead to 10-0 with a major decision victory (12-4). At heavyweight, Cortland's Nick Lupi won by decision over sophomore Mathew Doty, 5-2, to put the rival Red Dragons up 13-0.

Oneonta scored its first points at the 133 lbs. when No. 4 Austin Sisco (Denville, NJ/Pope John Regional) secured a major decision victory against Cortland's Josh Antoine, 16-4.  Oneonta continued its momentum at 141 lbs. where senior Richard Dennison (Port Jervis/Minisink Valley) grabbed a major decision over Austin O'Reilly.

Cortland answered back at 149 lbs. with Matt Caputo taking the match by decision over senior Nicholas Heck (West Pittston/Wyoming Area) in the first period of sudden victory. The match was tied at four going into sudden victory and Caputo scored the first take down to win the match 6-4 and put Cortland up 20-8. Cortland kept momentum with an Adrian Berry decision victory over sophomore Daniel Murphy (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham).

Cortland held on to win 32-8 and improve to 11-6 and Oneonta would fall to 7-2-1. The Red Dragons will be back in action this weekend January 21^st, at the ECWC Championships hosted by Oswego.
