Oneonta, NY – Both the men's and women's tennis teams hosted the Hamilton College Continentals here on the Heissan Tennis Courts on Wednesday. Unfortunately for the Red Dragons they ran into two teams that were a little better.  The women dropped the home match 8-1 and the men playing simultaneously would fair only slightly better losing 7-2.

The Red Dragons men's and women's squad were both shutout of the doubles competition.  The women's doubles teams could only muster five games between the three tandems.  The men though did challenge the Continentals in doubles actually holding late leads on the first and second flights.  Senior Michael Nelson and sophomore Joseph D'Orazio were up in the set 6-5 but were stalled and could not muster another game losing an 8-6 decision.  A similar fate for sophomore Nicholas Fox (Commack/Commack) and partner junior Zach Lasky who were up breaks in the set but could not hold them and dropped their match 9-7.

The women's singles stanza found a victor for the Red Dragons as junior Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) outdueled her opponent at the sixth position scoring a 6-4, 7-5 decision and an upset triumph for the Red Dragon.

In men's singles two matches went in their favor as D'Orazio scored a straight set win at the second flight 6-4, 7-5 and Lasky came back after losing the first set and secured a surprise win with a score of 2-6, 6-4 ((10-4) in the fifth position.

The SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon men's and women's tennis squads will both play at the Heissan Tennis Courts on the campus of SUNY Oneonta on Saturday,  October 1^st v Baruch College beginning at 10:30 AM.
