Box Score Field Hockey
The Red Dragons collect their first conference victory of the season to improve to 2-6 and 1-1 SUNYAC. The Red Dragons would outshoot the Golden Eagles 20-12, which included not allowing a single shot in the second half.
The Red Dragons would strike early when sophomore Amanda Frayer (Harpursville/Harpursville) would find the back of the cage off an assist from classmate Carissa Warren (Harpursville /Harpursville) at 3:03. The Red Dragons next goal would come in the second half, when sophomore Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) would score off of a scramble in front of the net in the 38th minute. The Red Dragons would add one more insurance goal in the 51st minute when junior Natalie Longo (Endwell/Maine Endwell) would strike the ball right through the goaltender. Junior Madeline Reilly (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) would collect the assist on the final goal which was her first assist of the season.
The Red Dragons defense would hold up for their first shutout of the season. Sophomore Cassandra Miller (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) and freshman Danell Jones (Whitney Point/Whitney Point) would combine for the shutout with Miller earning her second victory of the season. Miller had five saves for the Red Dragons, and Reilly and Warren each had a defensive save.
The Red Dragons are back in action Wednesday, September 28th in a SUNYAC contest against the New Paltz Hawks at 4:00pm. Â
