The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team ran into No. 1 and defending Division III national champion SUNY Cortland today and came out on the short end of a 21-4 score. The rival Red Dragons scored seven unanswered goals in the opening seven minutes of the contest en route to its 11
th victory of the season with no defeats. The loss for the host Red Dragons drops them to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC.

Danielle McIvor (Nanuet/Clarkstown) each tallied for Oneonta.

Cortland junior Kristen Ohberg led the attack with nine points today on three goals and six assists. Sophomore Hannah Elmer added a pair of goals to go with five assists. Senior Tara Monaghan scored five goals in the game to reach 200 for her career making her only the fourth woman in program history to reach the milestone.

Cortland raced out to a 13-2 lead at halftime and added the final eight goals in the second half. Oneonta scored two goals in each half. Cortland outshot Oneonta 29-11 and controlled 20 of the 27 draws.

Oneonta will host Buffalo State this Saturday for its final home game of the season. Prior to the game that begins at 1pm, the Red Dragons will honor its senior class of lacrosse players.
