Queens, NY – A 5am wakeup call and four hour drive to Queens, NY was used as motivation to avenge a loss a year ago to the Hunter College Hawks as the the SUNY Oneonta women's tennis won today by a lopsided score of 8-1 gaining their second win of the spring season.
Red Dragons got off to a great start and took the doubles stanza 2-1. The first doubles team of senior
Michelle Spencer (Homer/Homer) and junior
Alana Green (Pittsford/Pittsford) played a strategically sound game and got the early break and made it hold up playing steady clean doubles securing an 8-5 triumph. Freshman

Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) won their second match in a row downing the Hawks duo by a score of 8-2. Haedrich was dominant at the net and Felice continues to show great improvement with every match as the pair are developing a nice chemistry.
In singles, the Red Dragons were never threatened gaining victories in every position. At first singles, Green played her steady brand of tennis and neutralized her opponents power by controlling the rallies with her steady, consistent game that secured her a 6-4, 6-4 win. Spencer was her usual amped up self today and overpowered her opponent at second singles achieving a 6-1, 6-2 win. Freshman
Michelle Halpern (Rye Brook/Blind Brook) was very steady and her game continues to mature, as she won a tight match by the score of 6-4, 7-6 in a two hour marathon of long rallies. Halpern played mentally tough tennis and frustrated her opponent on all the big points. Senior
