Women's lacrosse notches road win at Farmingdale

Senior Catherine Clark scores four goals to lead attack

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) and freshman Allison Butler (Queensbury/Queensbury) paced the SUNY Oneonta attack today as they defeated the Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team, 12-5, in a non conference matchup. The Red Dragons improved to 2-3 with the win, while the Rams fell to 1-3 overall.
 
Clark opened the scoring at the 26:15 mark to give Oneonta (2-3) its first lead of the game, before Farmingdale State notched the next two goals for a 2-1 advantage. Freshman attack Nicole Ingrassia scored off a feed from junior attack Janisha Sanchez, while junior midfielder Kristen Keller sent home a pass from junior midfielder Brittany Rosino.
 
Oneonta scored four unanswered over the final 23+ minutes to grab a 5-2 lead at halftime.  Freshman Allison Butler (Queensbury/Queensbury) scored a pair and assisted on a third goal.  Clark scored her second of the game while the final goal of the half came from sophomore Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial).
 
In the second, Clark and Butler tallied a goal each in the first five minutes, pushing the Red Dragon lead to 7-2. Rams freshman midfielder Alexandra Sparrow scored on a pass from Sanchez with 23 minutes remaining to cut the deficit to 7-3, but Oneonta would add five more en route to the non-conference victory.
 
Clark finished with four goals and one assist while Butler added three goals and one assist.
 
Casey finished with three points on one goal and two assists.  Newcomer Kelsey Cohen (Baldwin/Baldwin) contributed a pair of goals while classmate, Cara Zanta (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville Senior), tallied a goal and added an assist.
 
Freshman goalie Jaclyn Marry (Long Beach/Long Beach) made 13 saves in picking up the win for Oneonta.
 
Oneonta will travel to Hamilton College this Thursday for a non conference game beginning at 4pm.
