The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team got 23 points and 22 points respectively from senior
Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) and junior
Lawrence Coleman (Croton on the Hudson/Hendrick Hudson) in a road win tonight at SUNY Geneseo. The Red Dragons shot just under 47 percent en route to a 76-65 SUNYAC victory that raised its overall record to 8-3 and 3-1 in conference play.
Â
McElroy hit 9-of-14 from the field tonight while Coleman added a game high 11 rebounds. Junior
Jack Kolosky (Fishkill/Our Lady of Lourdes) came off the bench to score a career best 14 points in just 13 minutes of action. Kolosky was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor while also contributing five rebounds.
Â
The two squads battled tightly in the opening 20 minutes with multiple lead changes. The Red Dragons came through the first half holding a slim 39-38 lead.
Â
The score remained tight through the first five minutes of the second half before Oneonta started to create some breathing room. The Red Dragons put together a 14-3 run over the next five minutes to open up a 10-point lead. McElroy and Kolosky combined for 10 of the 14 points during the spurt.
Â
A quick 8-0 run by Geneseo (6-3/0-2 SUNYAC) cut Oneonta's lead back to a pair with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Â
Another 12-4 run for Oneonta over the next six minutes gave them enough of a lead to close the door on the Knights.
Â
Senior
Jack Dignan (Brewster/Brewster) had another solid all-around game tonight with eight points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.
Â
The Red Dragons will finish its Rochester road swing tomorrow with a game at Brockport beginning at 4pm.
