The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team improved to 4-11 last night, as they overcame two forfeits by winning five matches to post a 29-18 victory over host King's College in Wilkes Barre, PA.

The Red Dragons fell behind early due to a forfeit at 125 pounds, but they would bounce back with a (10-3) decision by Anthony Messina (Farmingville/Sachem East) at 133 pounds. 

Two major decision victories by junior Richard Dennison (Port Jervis, NY/Minisink Valley) at 141 pounds and sophomore Matt Marino (Nesconset/Sachem North) at 149 pounds would put the Red Dragons ahead 11-6.  

After a forfeit by Oneonta at 157 pounds the Red Dragons would answer with pins by both senior Evan Wallace (East Greenbush/Columbia) and freshman Lantze Lange (Smithtown/Smithtown West) at 165 and 174 pounds respectively which would give Oneonta a 23-12 lead.

King's Edward Merrill would win the 184-weight class by decision to close Oneont's lead to 23-15. Freshman Peter Pjetri (Suffern/Suffern) then pinned Ryan Longenberger at 5:53 to seal the victory for the Red Dragons.

The Red Dragons are back in action on Sunday, January 31^st at Wilkes University the Red Dragons will wrestle West Virginia University Institute of Technology, Scranton and Alfred State College.
