The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team got back on the winning track today, sailing past the Oswego Lakers 3-0 at Laker Turf Stadium. The Red Dragons improved to 3-5 overall, 1-1 in the SUNYAC and the Lakers fell to 1-6 overall, and 1-2 in the conference.
The Red Dragons offense was firing on all cylinders today as they rattled off 23 shots and had 15 penalty corners. The Red Dragons scored all of their goals in the second half. The first goal came off the stick of
Sara Rattigan (Stormville/Carmel) with an assist from
Sierra Palmatier (Nineveh/Afton Central). Her goal came from the top of the arc to beat the goalie on her right side.
Oneonta's second goal came 20 minutes later when freshman
Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) scored her team-high fifth goal of the season. Wells dribbled from half field and blasted a shot past the goalie's left side.
The final goal of the day came from
Tatum Knapp (Marathon/Marathon) off an assist from sophomore
Casey Stata (Round Lake/Shenendehowa). Knapp was able to collect a pass from Stata before pushing a shot past the goalie.
Senior
Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland) had her first shutout of the season and recorded double-digit saves for the third time this season. Servedio has 70 saves on the season.
The Red Dragons are back in action next Friday against SUNY Geneseo. The game will be played at Sidney High School and will begin at 4pm.
