Annandale-On-Hudson, NY – The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis squad came away with a lopsided 9-0 win versus Bard College yesterday to earn their first win of the spring season.

In doubles play the team of senior Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and junior Michelle Spencer (Homer/Homer) won their second in a row with a commanding 8-0 dismantling of their opponents who could never get on track.  Freshman Samantha Felice (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) and senior Kelly Gochan (Lake Grove/Sachem North) took home their first victory of the spring with a commanding 8-3 triumph.  Following that up was the third doubles team of senior Marina Salzano (Katonah/John Jay) and junior Samantha Butcher (Sidney/Sidney Central) who were never in trouble in their match as they closed their opponents out by a score of 8-1.

Holding an authoritative lead with singles play beginning, the Red Dragons did not take their feet off the pedal and cruised on to the 9-0 shutout.  Sussman continued to build on her record-setting career with another win at first singles never surrendering a game with a double bagel triumph.  Gochan won her second in a row at the number two spot following the Sussman win with a double bagel also.   Spencer and Salzano at third and fourth singles were never in any trouble as Spencer also double-bageled her opponent and Salzano only dropped one game in her journey to victory.

Butcher in the fifth position won her second in a row with a very dominant performance.  Returning to the lineup after a one year hiatus, senior Eliza Shilleto never missed a beat and got it done at sixth singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win to complete the shutout performance.

The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis squad takes on the very talented William Smith College women's lineup this coming Saturday, April 18^th as they journey to Geneva, NY for the competition.
