Buffalo, N.Y. – The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team returned the win column in SUNYAC play Saturday afternoon when they defeated the host Bengals 16-12. Senior
Nikki Fioretti (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) and rookie standout
Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) pocketed five goals apiece in the win.

Fioretti opened the scoring just over four minutes in on a free position shot. Just over eight minutes later, freshman
Jaime Morris (West Nyack/Clarkstown South) buried her 12
th goal of the year on a feed from junior
Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills).

The squads alternated scoring the next six goals in an 11-minute span. Fioretti completed the hat trick with a pair of tallies in the exchange after sophomore
Katie Flannery (Massapequa/Plainedge) recorded her six goal of the campaign. Casey followed Fioretti's third goal with her first of the day at 25:22. The Bengals added one of their own before the half for a 6-4 Oneonta lead at the break.

The Red and White's half dozen goals came on 18 shots and controlling 9 of 11 draws.

Casey wasted no time getting the second half underway as she got on the board just 25 seconds into the frame, Flannery registered an assist on the play. The freshman responded to a Buffalo State goal with a free position shot at 2:25.

Jillian Donodeo (Holbrook/Sachem East) put herself on the score sheet when she buried a
Randal Cook (Northport/Northport) pass 5:14 in to the half. The senior notched her second goal of the day in response to a three goal in 24 seconds spurt by the hosts. The Bengals added two more goals to tie the game at 10 just over 13 minutes in.Â

Casey gave the Red and White the lead when she met twine on another feed from Flannery just seconds later only to have the Bengals tie then regain the lead with consecutive goals a minute apart.

Down one just over halfway through the half, it became senior takeover for the Red Dragons.
Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa) recorded her second point, first goal, of the day when she fired a pass from Casey to beat the keeper. Fioretti tallied the go-ahead goal on a pass from Casey at 18:41, only to have the latter pocket a free position goal exactly one minute later. Donodeo and Fioretti each added one more goal to finish the game.

Junior
Rori Stark (Brewster/Brewster) picked up her second win of the year making nine saves on the day. The offense matched its first half total of 18 shots to fire 36 on the day, while doubling up the Bengals in draw controls.

Casey's five goals put her at a team-high 51. She also leads the team with 11 assists and 62 points.
Â
The 5-8 Red Dragons start a season ending four-game home stand on Tuesday when Potsdam comes to town for a 4 pm contest.
