Clermont, Fla. – The SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team traveled to the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. for its annual spring break trip. Pitted against the top ranked team in the country, Gettysburg, the Red and White fell 18-8. Rookie
Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) tallied five goals on the evening to lead the Red Dragon attack.
Casey wasted little time to put pressure on the Bullets as she found the back of the net twice in the first two and half minutes of the contest. The first goal came just 55 seconds in on a feed from junior
Catherine Clark (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills). The second came at the 2:28 mark on a pass from sophomore
Katie Flannery (Massapequa/Plainedge).
The Bullets ended the half on an 11-0 run to end the half up 11-2. They would tack on three more to start the second half before senior
Nicole Boylan (Massapequa/Massapequa) buried an unassisted goal 6:48 into the frame.
Casey registered her third goal of the day on a free position shot 11 minutes into the second half. The freshman and senior
Jillian Donodeo (Holbrook/Sachem East) alternated on the next four goals, with Boylan handing out an assist on Donodeo's first tally. Each recorded a free position goal in the span to cap the Red Dragons' scoring.
Freshman
Autumn Moore (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) registered three saves in 43:19 of action.
Oneonta (0-2) returns to action on Friday at St. John Fisher.
