The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team led for more than 36 minutes tonight and pulled away at the end for a 75-62 victory against visiting Williams College. The Red Dragons had four players in double figures and shot 54 percent from the field en route to running its record to 4-2 overall.

Oneonta trailed twice in the opening six minutes of tonight's game before a dunk by senior
Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) gave the Red Dragons the lead for good at 15-13 with 14:11 to go in the opening half. McElroy led Oneonta with 19 points to go with five boards.

Williams (5-2) kept pushing back, but couldn't tie the game. The Ephs cut Oneonta's lead to 26-24 on a layup by freshman James Heskett at the 8:51 mark.

The Red Dragons then ran off seven unanswered to push its lead back to nine points. Oneonta would take a comfortable, 38-28, lead into halftime.

Oneonta continued to lead with under nine minutes to go in the contest before five unanswered points by the Ephs cut the Red Dragons lead to just two points at 55-53 with 6:03 to go. Freshman Kyle Scadlock scored all five points for Williams. Scadlock and junior Daniel Aronowitz each scored 16 points to lead the Ephs.

Oneonta held on to a four-point lead with just under three minutes remaining before senior
Seth Thomsen (South New Berlin/Norwich) buried a three with time running out on the shot clock.

After a three-pointer by Bobby Casey of Williams, sophomore
Ian Schupp (New Hampton/Goshen) hit a shot from well behind the arc to match Casey's and jump-start a 9-0 run to close the game for the Red Dragons. Schupp finished with 10 points in the game that included a pair of three's.

Thomsen, McElroy and junior
Lawrence Coleman (Croton on the Hudson/Hendrick Hudson) all converted their free throws in the last minute for the final margin of victory. Coleman added 17 points tonight and senior
Jackson Zuvic (Cold Spring/Haldane) contributed 12 points.

Oneonta will be back in action this Sunday at home as they host St. John Fisher College beginning at 2pm.
