The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team dropped a non-conference game on the road today to the Stevens Institute of Technology, to drop their record to 5-10 overall while Stevens improved to 10-7.
Allyson Wells (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) scored two goals in the second half and
Hannah Hayward (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) scored her sixth goal of the season for the Red Dragons.
Stevens was led by Nolie Prouty with two goals, while sophomores
Victoria Alvarez and
Cassidy O'Hearn chipped-in for Stevens' other two goals. Senior Felecia Heard set her career-high with five saves in 52 minutes of action, during the Ducks' Senior Day game.
The Red Dragons fell behind 2-0 in the first half, but with a goal by Wells ten minutes into the second half cut the Ducks' lead to 2-1. Hayward would tie the game up 2-2 five minutes later off of a
Nicole Johnston (Bedford/Fox Lane) assist. Â
The Ducks would separate themselves again when Prouty scored back-to-back, to put the Ducks up 4-2. The Red Dragons made a late push when Wells buried her second goal in the back of the net, off a
Sara Rattigan (Stormville/Carmel) assist.
However Red Dragons would not be able to drive any additional goals across, as the Ducks defense would hold on for the 4-3 victory.
The Red Dragons are back in action against Skidmore Wednesday October 28
th at 3:30pm. in Saratoga Springs.
