For the second time this season the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team had to play an extra period with the Oswego State Lakers. Unfortunately for the Red Dragons, the result was the same, as Oneonta fell to Oswego 83-79.
Â
After the two teams finished regulation tied at 75, it was the Lakers who outscored the Red Dragons, 8-4, in the extra period to take the victory.

Â
It appeared that Oswego had control of the game leading 82-77 with 22 seconds left. A Kelly layup brought Oneonta to with three points with 10 seconds remaining.
Â
A turnover by Oswego gave Oneonta one final possession to tie the game, which ended up as a turnover with three seconds to go. Walter Sampson made a final free throw for Oswego to ice the game.
Â

Â
The Lakers maintained its lead down the stretch until Kelly grabbed an offensive rebound off his own missed shot and put it back to tie the game at 75. Â Sortino fired a shot from half court, but it came up short to send the game to overtime.
Â
Oswego jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game before a three-pointer by Coleman cut the deficit to 7-5. A layup by
Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) at the 15:36 mark tied the score at seven apiece.
Â
The two teams took turns with the lead over the next minute before six unanswered points by Oneonta gave them a 16-11 lead with just under 14 minutes remaining in the first half. Mager capped the run with a jumper from just inside the foul line.
Â
With the score deadlocked at 22-22, the Lakers closed the half on a 15-8 run to grab a 37-30 lead at the break.
