The visiting Brockport Golden Eagles led from wire-to-wire en route to a 67-56 victory against host SUNY Oneonta in men's basketball action today.  Oneonta (5-7, 2-3 SUNYAC) did rally in the second half, but Brockport (5-5, 2-1 SUNYAC) outscored the Red Dragons, 27-7, from the free throw line.
 
The Golden Eagles led 48-30 with just under 12 minutes left in the game before Oneonta began to make a run to cut into the deficit.  A 14-4 spurt over a seven-minute stretch cut the deficit to single digits at 52-44.  Freshman Eulogio Medina (Washington Heights/Wheels Academy) led the Red Dragons with six points during the run.  The two teams played even over the final five minutes of the game.
 
Oneonta had three players reach double figures in the contest led by junior Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs)'s 13 points.  Senior Zach Mager (New City/Clarkstown South) collected 12 points while junior Jack Dignan (Brewster/Brewster) added 11 points.
 
Freshman Hamed Shamseldin led Brockport with 17 points and nine boards.  Sophomore Aaron White added 15 points.
 
Brockport started early in today's game, as they scored the opening seven points before the Red Dragons got on the scoreboard.  The Golden Eagles blew the game wide open with a 20-4 run that gave them a 27-8 advantage with 8:13 to go.  White led the Golden Eagles in the opening half with eight points.
 
Oneonta is off until this Thursday when they will host New Paltz beginning at 4pm.
