Sophomore
Zachary Southworth (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) scored a pair of goals today in leading the unbeaten and No. 3 SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory against Oswego in the SUNYAC opener for both squads. The two goals were Southworth's first two of the season, as the Red Dragons upped its record to 7-0-1 overall. The loss for the Lakers dropped them to 1-6-1 overall.

Southworth's goals came over a four-minute span between the first and second halves. His first goal came in the 42
nd minute while the second came in the 46
th minute of today's game.

Sean Vinberg (Massapequa Park/Massapequa), who crossed a pass into the box that Southworth put into the top right corner of the goal. His second goal was a header that he redirected into the right corner after a centering pass by senior
Addison Straub (Manlius/Fayetteville Manlius).

Daniel DeBottis (Cicero/C-NS) picked up his first win of the season in goal, making three saves and recording the shutout. Oneonta has recorded seven shutouts this season in its eight matches, which is near the top of NCAA Division III.

Oneonta will face its rival Red Dragons from SUNY Cortland at home tomorrow beginning at 1pm. Cortland defeated New Paltz today 2-0, as they come to town having recorded a school record six consecutive shutouts.
