The SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team continues to roll, as today they disposed of Vassar College on the road by the score of 4-1. Oneonta, the #5 team in this past week's NSCAA coaches' poll, is now 5-0 and have outscored its opponents by a margin of 17-1.

Oneonta led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by sophomore
Hans Purtell (Johnson City/Johnson City) in the 21
st minute. Senior
Mitchell Cain (Marcy/Whitesboro) sent a cross into the box that Purtell headed into the back of the net.

Oneonta went ahead 2-0 in the 58
th minute when freshman
Cory Santangelo (Sayville/Sayville) took a pass from junior
Colin Volpe (Commack/St. Anthony's) before converting a shot into the left corner of the goal.

Volpe scored next in the 71
st minute with an assist from classmate
Dylan Williams (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury). Williams played a ball into the box where Volpe rocketed a shot into the upper 90.

The final tally for Oneonta came in the 79
th minute, as senior
Justin Rivera (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) scored his first goal of the season unassisted.

Vassar (5-1-1) scored its goal in the 85
th minute.

Oneonta held a 19-8 advantage in shots and earned three corner kicks.

"We are really playing well as a team early in the season," added Byrne. "Our spring trip to Barcelona gave us a chance to bond and I feel it is helping us early on."
