Plattsburgh, N.Y. – The SUNY Oneonta volleyball squad finished off regular season SUNYAC play in Plattsburgh this weekend with its eyes set on qualifying for the conference tournament. The Red and White kicked off the weekend against Buffalo State before taking on Plattsburgh and Brockport on Saturday.
Oneonta dropped its match against Buffalo State 3-0 (22-25, 9-25, 27-25). Junior
Jill Darpino (Endicott/Union Endicott) led the Red Dragon attack with 10 kills on a match-high 34 attempts.
Karly Greco (East Patchogue/Bellport) and
Jessica Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) served as the setters for the match recording 15 and 10 assists, respectively. Libero
Allyson Coniglione (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) paced the match with 14 digs.
The Red and White regrouped overnight and responded with a resounding 3-0 (25-17, 25-24, 25-17) win over the host Cardinals. Darpino again paced the attack with another 10 kill performance, this time on 25 attempts.
Kristen Polan (Westhampton/Westhampton Beach) added six kills on 15 attempts. Pelaccio's 15 assists tied a match high, as did Coniglione's dozen digs.
Oneonta finished the weekend with a 3-0 (15-25, 23-25, 22-25) loss to Brockport.
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) led the offense with 14 kills on 29 attempts, with Darpino right behind with a baker's dozen of kills. Greco handed out 19 assists to lead the Red Dragons, while also recording a pair of service aces.
Oneonta finishes SUNYAC play with a 4-5 record, and sit at 16-14 with a match against Sage Tuesday night before hosting the annual Dig Pink Invitational this weekend.
