The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team put up 36 points in each half tonight, as they easily defeated visiting SUNY Potsdam 72-51 to record its fourth straight win.  Oneonta is now 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the SUNYAC while the loss for Potsdam drops them to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Oneonta trailed 3-2 in the first minute of tonight's contest before two straight from long distance by senior Dan Lee (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa) gave the Red Dragons a lead that they would not relinquish.  Lee finished the game with 10 points.

Potsdam continued to battle and kept the game close for most of the opening half before Oneonta pulled away towards the end of the half, building itself a 36-24 lead at the break.  Junior Zach Mager (New City/Clarkstown South) scored 16 of his game high 24 points in the opening twenty minutes.

It was much of the same in the second half, as Oneonta continued to pull away, building on its halftime lead in the first five minutes.  A three-point play by sophomore Seth Thomsen (South New Berlin/Norwich) gave Oneonta a 53-31 lead at the 14:54 mark.  Thomsen finished with a season high nine points.

The Red Dragons shot an even 40 percent from the floor including 10-of-22 from long range.  They outrebounded the Bears 46-35 and hit 14-of-16 free throws.

Oneonta will be back in action again tomorrow as they host Plattsburgh beginning at 4pm.
