The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team swept all six singles spots today en route to a lopsided 8-1 victory against rival SUNY Cortland.  The win for Oneonta (4-2, 2-1 SUNYAC East) secured the No. 2 seed in the division for the conference tournament in October.  The loss for Cortland dropped them to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Oneonta opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.  Senior Lauren Skolnick (Sayville/Sayville) and junior Brynn Sussman (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) defeated the sophomore duo of Shannon Grodotzke and Dilara Kumbul 8-4 at first doubles.

The senior tandem of Emily Maggiore (Binghamton/Binghamton) and Colette Lankowicz (Sayville/Sayville) defeated junior Mary Claire Kopcienski and her partner, freshman Natalie Groves 8-6 at second doubles.

Cortland's lone win came at third doubles with the duo of senior Janette O'Keefe and junior Leah Hathaway defeating senior Abigail Smith (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) and freshman Olivia Stauffer (Huntington/Harborfields) 8-5.

Sussman, Maggiore, Skolnick, Lankowicz, sophomores Michelle Spencer (Homer/Homer) and Riane Reithel (Penfield/Webster Schroeder) were the winners at first through sixth singles respectively.  Sussman, Maggiore, Spencer and Reithel all won in straight sets.  Skolnick and Lankowicz needed a third set, super tiebreak to decide their matches.

Oneonta will travel to Oswego for its next match this Friday beginning at 4pm.
