The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team was doubled up tonight at home by No. 4 SUNY Cortland 27-13.  The visiting Red Dragons won three of the final four bouts to secure its 12th win of the season.  The loss for Oneonta drops them to 4-8 in dual meets.

Oneonta took a 7-0 lead after winning the first two bouts at 125 lbs. and 133 lbs.  Freshman Zachary Aal (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills) won a hard fought 8-6 decision over Tanavung Tim.  Junior Ben Mikac (Williamsville/Williamsville East) won a major decision against David Occhipinti 13-4.

Junior Brian Bisitis, who is currently ranked No. 8 nationally, got Cortland on the board with a pin of Sean Hanson (Lorraine/South Jefferson) in 6:29.

Freshman Bobby Dierna followed with a 12-2 win over Noah Valastro (Hudson Falls/Hudson Falls) to earn another four points and give Cortland the lead for good at 10-7.  Dierna is currently ranked No. 3 in Division III.

At 157 lbs., Oneonta's Dan Graff (LaGrangeville/Arlington) battled No. 8, Troy Sterling to the wire before falling 7-5.

Oneonta's final two victories came at 165 lbs. by freshman Shaun Gillen (Bohemia/Connetquot) and at 184 lbs. by sophomore Greg Du Vall (Sherburne/Sherburne Earlville).  Both wins were by decision.

Sophomore Lou Puca, who is No. 7 currently nationally pinned Donnie VanBuren (Boiceville/Onteora) in 3:43 at 174 lbs.

No. 1 ranked, Jared Myhrberg of Cortland, picked up a major decision victory against sophomore Chad Obzud (Cohoes/Lansingburgh) of Oneonta.

Oneonta will travel to Oswego to compete against the Lakers this Saturday afternoon beginning at noon.
