The SUNY Oneonta field hockey team remained hot with its 6-2 win at Hamilton tonight. The Red Dragons dominated the Continentals en route to its fourth straight victory. Oneonta (7-2) jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
Oneonta didn't waste any time in in scoring the game's first goal as senior
Ashley Johnson (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) scored an unassisted goal in the second minute. Johnson would finish the game with two goals and an assist to lead the Red Dragons.
Sophomore
Chelsea Remling (Mahopac/Lakeland) and senior
Suzanne Wright (Hudson/Germantown Central) would score less than three minutes apart midway through the first half to give Oneonta a 3-0 lead. Remling's goal came on one of Oneonta's 11 penalty corners that they earned for the game.
Sophomore
Andrea Day (Greene/Greene), Johnson and sophomore
Kelcy Forbragd (Camden/Camden) added goals in the second half for the final tally of 6-2.
Sophomore
Tess Tracy (Liverpool/Liverpool), who was the SUNYAC Player of the Week, played the first half and made four saves for Oneonta.
Emma Wasserman (High Falls/Rondout Valley) and
Krista Servedio (Shrub Oak/Lakeland) each played during the second half and allowed one goal each.
Oneonta will now have 10 days off before heading to Brockport for its next contest on Friday, Oct. 5. The game begins at 4pm and is the first of back-to-back SUNYAC contests.
