FREDONIA, N.Y.—The State University of New York Athletic Conference has announced that Oneonta State freshman guard
Frankie Kelly (Brewster/Kennedy Catholic) has been selected as the Rookie of the Year in men's basketball. The first-year player had a tremendous first season with the Red Dragons and was honored for his on-court performance by the conference coaches.
As the starting point guard for Oneonta this season, Kelly finished the year as the team's leading scorer at 10.9 points per game. He was the only player on the squad to average double figures in scoring for the year. In fact, Kelly scored in double figures in 16 of the 25 games this season including nine of his last 10 games. He capped his season by scoring a season high 21 points in the final two games of the year.
Kelly also dished out 107 assists and collected 39 steals while averaging 3.6 rebounds per contest. His 4.28 assists per game is the seventh best mark in a single season all-time. His assist-to-turnover ratio was 1.35 for the season.
Kelly also shot 81 percent from the free throw line, which was the best on the team. He made 77 of 95 attempts, both of which were team highs.
