The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team competed at Johnson & Wales University on Saturday and came away with a pair of wins.  The Red Dragons were able to defeat WPI and Williams while they dropped a close one to the hosts.  Oneonta sits at 2-5 in dual meets and will be back in action to end the semester this Sunday in Fort Myers, Fla. at the Gulf Coast Duals.

The two wins for Oneonta also gave head coach Duane Ritter his 100th win as a Division III head coach.  Ritter, who is in his 9th season at the helm of the Red Dragons wrestling program, is 100-61-3 overall.

Leading Oneonta with three wins Saturday was sophomore Alex Pugh (Morrisville/Peru).  Pugh captured three wins at 125 lbs., including a pin of Andrew Gauthier of Johnson & Wales.

Juniors Ben Mikac (Williamsville/Williamsville East) and Jake Smith (St. James/Smithtown), sophomore Greg DuVall and freshmen Shaun Gillen (Bohemia/Connetquot) and Jacob Freudenberg (Islip/Islip) all recorded two wins on the day.  For Smith and DuVall, it was their first action of the season after injuries sidelined them for the first month.  Both wrestlers recorded one pin each.
