Despite 25 points from freshman Jackson Zuvic (Cold Spring/Haldane), the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team fell to Fredonia today 72-66 on the road.  For Zuvic, it was the third game this season that he has scored more than 20 points.  Today was his high water mark in the early season, as he previously scored 22 and 21 points.  Zuvic hit 10-of-15 shots today including 3-of-3 from behind the arc.

Oneonta (1-4/0-2 SUNYAC) held a 37-31 lead at halftime.  A free throw by freshman Seth Thomsen (South New Berlin/Norwich) gave the Red Dragons its largest lead of the game, 48-39, with 10:53 remaining in the contest.

Fredonia (2-3/1-1 SUNYAC) scored 15 unanswered points to take a lead that they wouldn't relinquish.  Fredonia had four players in double figures today and hit 10-of-22 from long range.  The Blue Devils outscored Oneonta 41-29 in the second half.

Sophomores Zach Mager (New City/Clarkstown South) and Frankie Kelly (Brewster/Kennedy Catholic) each scored in double figures today for Oneonta.  Mager had 11 points and six rebounds.  Kelly scored 10 points, collected eight boards and dished out five assists.

Last night, senior Nick Sarchioto (Duanesburg/Bishop Gibbons) scored 18 points and Zuvic had 12 points, but the Red Dragons fell to Buffalo State, 85-64, in the SUNYAC opener for both squads.  Zuvic also added a game high 11 rebounds.  The Red Dragons shot 40 percent from the floor, but only connected on 2-of-13 from behind the arc.

Oneonta will host Skidmore on Tuesday night beginning at 7pm.  The Red Dragons play three home games next week including back-to-back SUNYAC contests on Friday and Saturday.
