The visiting Hartwick Hawks had three players in double figures and shot 54 percent from the field en route to a 70-39 win against SUNY Oneonta. Junior Jared Suderley scored 11 of his team high 16 points in the second half when the Hawks pulled away.
Sophomore
Zach Mager (New City/Clarkstown South) led Oneonta (1-2) with 10 points to go with five rebounds.
Hartwick built its 19-point halftime lead quickly to 25 points in the opening four minutes of the second half.
After jumping out to an early 10-5 lead, the Hawks scored 11 unanswered to take a 16-10 lead on a basket by junior Kyle Bradley. Bradley led all scorers in the first half with 11 points and finished with 13 points.
Hartwick didn't miss too many shots in the opening half including from long range. The Hawks finished the first half shooting 52 percent, which included 6-of-11 from behind the arc. They finished the game hitting 9-of-18 three-pointers. Junior Christian Laputka was a perfect 4-of-4 from long range and finished with 12 points in the contest.
Oneonta will travel west to Buffalo this Friday to take on the Bengals in the SUNYAC opener for both teams. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
