Volleyball completes Bomber Invitational 2-2

Red Dragons now 4-4 overall after first two weekends

The Oneonta State volleyball team competed at the Bomber Invitational this weekend hosted by Ithaca College and came away with a 2-2 record in its four matches. On Friday, the Red Dragons dropped a pair of matches to Widener (3-0) and Geneseo (3-1) before bouncing back today with a pair of sweeps versus Rutgers-Newark and Baptist Bible.

In the lost to Widener, junior Brittany Calvello (Gloversville/Broadalbin-Perth) (Gloversville/Broadalpin-Perth) had 11 assists while senior Jessica Zerega (New City/Clarkstown) (New City/Clarkstown) had 10 digs to lead Oneonta.

Against Geneseo, senior Christina Fabiochi (Manorville/Eastport South Manor) (Manorville/Eastport South Manor) led the Red Dragons with 12 kills. Newcomer Kaitlyn Vishneowski (Glenmont/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) (Glenmont/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) fueled the attack with a team leading 26 assists while also anchoring the defensive effort with 14 digs.

Junior Kacy Boburka (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) led the Oneonta attack in its two wins today. She registered 12 kills versus Rutgers and 14 kills against Baptist Bible.

Calvello registered 49 assists in the two matches including 29 versus Baptist Bible. She also had 14 and 15 digs respectively in the two victories.

Oneonta will be in action next this coming Tuesday when they host Scranton for a match beginning at 6:00 p.m.
