Field Hockey clips #20 Hamilton, 4-3 in overtime

Warning tallies three goals including game winner

Box Score

ONEONTA, NY – Junior Megan Warning (Lake Peeksill/Putnam Valley) (Lake Peekskill/Putnam Valley) scored three times including the game winner in tonight's overtime victory against #20 Hamilton College, 4-3. Oneonta is now 7-4 overall while Hamilton slips to 4-3.

Classmate Ashley Morgan (Putnam Valley/Putnam Valley) (Putnam Valley/Putnam Valley) set up the game-winning goal with a great pass from midfield forward.  Warning went to goal and banged a shot that trickled over the Hamilton goalie as she came out to try and defend.

Warning opened the scoring with ten minutes left in the first half off a deflected shot from Ashley Johnson (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs). Hamilton answered back three minutes later when Marisa Spagnolo (Bryn Mawr, PA/The Episcopal Academy) pulled a move past a Red Dragon defender and blasted the ball to the back of the cage.

Oneonta regained the lead ten minutes into the second half, when Johnson passed to Jacqueline Camp (Queensbury/Queensbury) (Queensbury/Queensbury) who redirected the ball into the cage. Seconds later, the Continentals earned a corner where Nikki Haskins (Quincy, MA/Southfield) capitalized off a rebounded shot to tie the score at 2 apiece.

Warning then took charge in the circle, scoring off a loose ball to put the Red Dragons back on top with 19 minutes left in the game. Hamilton fought back hard in the remaining minutes of play and scored with 42 seconds left on the clock when Haskins picked up a loose ball and tied the game, 3-3.

Tess Tracy (Liverpool/Liverpool) (Liverpool/Liverpool) picked up eight saves in the victory while Victoria Trentini (Briarcliff Manor/Briarcliff Manor Schools) recorded five.

Oneonta will return to SUNYAC play this Friday against Morrisville at 4:00 p.m.
