Megan Warning (Lake Peeksill/Putnam Valley) (Lake Peekskill/Putnam Valley) scored a pair of goals this afternoon to lead the Oneonta State field hockey team to a 3-2 victory versus Utica on the road. Oneonta (12-6) bounced back nicely from its loss at Rensselaer this past Saturday to equal last year's win total with one final regular season game remaining at Union on Friday.
Oneonta got on the scoreboard early today with a goal in the fifth minute of the contest. Warning converted a pass from classmate
Ashley Morgan (Putnam Valley/Putnam Valley) (Putnam Valley/Putnam Valley) in directing it by the Utica goalie for the 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers came back to tie the score six minutes later when Hannah Mackay took a pass from Ally Sanders before knocking it home.
Despite out shooting Utica 10-2 in the opening half of play, the two teams went to halftime tied 1-1.
Warning was at it again as she notched her team-leading 17th goal of the season less than three minutes into the second half. This time she knocked it home off a penalty corner.
Senior
Jacqueline Camp (Queensbury/Queensbury) (Queensbury/Queensbury) gave Oneonta a two-goal lead with an unassisted goal in the 66th minute.
Utica converted a penalty stroke in the 68th minute, but the game was in hand for the Red Dragons.
Rookie goalie,
Tess Tracy (Liverpool/Liverpool) (Liverpool/Liverpool) made 13 saves to pick up her 12th win of the season.
