Box Score
ONEONTA, N.Y.—SUNY Oneonta senior
Ainsley Stoll (Williamsville/Williamsville North) (Williamsville) hit the back of the goal four times today in leading the Red Dragons to a 4-2 win against visiting Houghton College in non-conference field hockey action. With her first goal of the day, Stoll became the first player to reach 100 career points for the field hockey program since 1985 when two Oneonta Hall of Famers, Sue Murray and Becky Ryan, eclipsed the milestone.
Today's outburst was the second time this season Stoll has registered three goals in a game. She has all five of Oneonta's game-winning goals this season and currently leads the team with 12 goals and has an even 50 for her career. The 50 goals moved her into a tie for third all-time with another Hall of Famer, Jenny Willink. Stoll currently has 107 career points, which is fifth all-time, only two points out of a tie for fourth. Murray is the program's leader with 140 points.
Oneonta (5-4) actually trailed at halftime 2-1 to Houghton (3-5). Sophomore Rachel Stefanski (Wallingford, CT/Lyman Hall) notched a pair of goals in the 19th and 26th minutes. Her first goal came out of a scramble in front of the goal and her second came when she positioned herself on the back post and collected a ball that came across the circle.
Stoll's first goal of the game came with less than two minutes to go in the first half to cut Houghton's lead in half. Her final three goals were all textbook corners. Junior
Jacqueline Camp (Queensbury) fed the ball to Stoll three times and three times Stoll blasted the ball by the Highlanders' goalie. Stoll's final goal came in the 67th minute.
Oneonta will be in action again this coming Wednesday, Sep. 29 when they host Ithaca College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
