ONEONTA, N.Y.—The SUNY Oneonta women's volleyball team swept through CCNY and Sage College today in the Dig Pink Extravaganza Tournament. The Red Dragons won both matches easily as they ended its regular season on a five-match win streak to raise their record to 18-17 overall.
In the opening match of the day versus CCNY, senior
Megan Boeltz (Greene) led the attack with 11 kills. Freshman
Kylie Lambert (Webster) fueled the attack with a team best 16 assists. Junior
Jessica Zerega (New City) led the defense with 23 digs.
In the match against Sage, Boeltz once again led the Oneonta attack with eight kills. Classmate
Kelsey Klopfer (Baldwinsville) had 18 assists to lead the Red Dragons. Zerega had 14 digs to lead the defense while freshman
Andrea Gorgen (Charlton) added 13 digs.
Today's tournament was part of a nationwide effort to raise money in support of breast cancer awareness and research. The Red Dragons will now prepare to compete in the 2010 SUNYAC tournament at Fredonia beginning on Thursday. Oneonta, the #3 seed from the East will face Geneseo, the #2 seed in the West, at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
