SUNY Oneonta junior #
Troy Talbot (Brooklyn/The School for Legal Studies)# hit a runner in the lane with one second to go to lift the Red Dragons to a 76-74 win against visiting Buffalo State this afternoon in SUNYAC men's action. The win for Oneonta raises its overall record to 12-2, which is its best start since 1996-97 when the team started 11-3. The win also puts its SUNYAC record at 5-2. The loss for the Bengals drops them to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the SUNYAC.

Brian Beckford (Brooklyn/Christ the King)# and #
Michael Grimes (Albany/Catholic Central)# combined for 46 of Oneonta's 76 points in the contest led by Grime's 25 points. Beckford also had a game high 11 rebounds to go with four assists and three blocks.
The final drama played out in the final 30 seconds with Oneonta leading 73-71 after senior Antonio Semedi (St. Albans/Queens Vocational) made two free throws for the Bengals.

After back-to-back timeouts by Buffalo State, freshman Jake Simmons (Rochester/School for the Arts) was fouled while attempting a three-point shot. All Simmons did was bury the three shots to tie the game with eight seconds remaining, which set up Talbot's heroics.
The Bengals had five players in double figures today led by sophomore T.O. Jackson (Bronx/Bronx Regional), who had 18 points to go with eight boards.
Oneonta held a 38-32 lead at halftime and saw its lead evaporate with a Bengals run of 10-4 to begin the second half. Buffalo State tied the game for the first time of the second half at 42 apiece on a made free throw by sophomore Norman Simmons (Rochester/East).
There were 10 ties and six lead changes in the second half as neither team could pull away. The largest lead of the second half was five points at 57-52 in favor of the hosts.
Oneonta will not play again until this upcoming Friday night when they host New Paltz for a SUNYAC contest beginning at 8:00 p.m.
