Leslie Dauphinais (Harpursville/Harpursville)#, the Oneonta State field hockey team defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 4-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday. The win was the first of the season for the Red Dragons, who improved to 1-5. The Engineers drop to 0-6 on the season.
Rensselaer took the first lead of the game in the 23rd minute after senior captain Joanna Aliprando (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) sent a deflected shot into the right corner for the score past Dauphinais. Classmate Margaret Chowaniec (Burlington, CT/Lewis Mills) set up the play after her shot was saved by a defender and kicked out to Aliprando.
The Red Dragons found their way onto the scoreboard in the 32nd minute as RPI senior Alex Lamparski
(Malvern, PA/Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) was whistled for a deliberate foul, awarding the

The Engineers saw several players post multiple shots in the game, including a team-high three for
Chowaniec. Sophomore netminder Briana Earle (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) stopped seven shots in the
loss.
Rensselaer is now idle until September 25 & 26, when it opens Liberty League play at Union (4pm) and
Skidmore (2pm), respectively. Oneonta State opens its conference schedule on Friday and Saturday at home
against SUNYAC rivals Geneseo (4pm) and Brockport (1pm), respectively.
