SUNY Oneonta Splits Pair on Final Day of Own Invitational

Red Dragons finish runner up to Springfield

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2      The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the 40th annual Oneonta State Invitational today.  The Red Dragons, who had advanced into the championship bracket after winning two matches yesterday, defeated RIT in the semifinals, before falling in the championship match against a very strong Springfield College squad.  Oneonta is now 11-11 overall on the season after this week-end's four matches in which they went 3-1.
     Against RIT, freshman Kacy Boburka (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) led the attack with 11 kills.  Senior Christine LaGuardia (Wappingers Falls/Arlington)
 had a solid all-around performance with seven kills, three aces, 19 digs and two blocks.  Junior Kelsey Klopfer (Baldwinsville/Baldwinsville) fueled the attack with 18 assists.
     Boburka was the lone highlight in the loss to Springfield reaching double digits in kills with 10.
     LaGuardia and Boburka were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances during the two-day event.
     The Red Dragons will not be in action again until this coming Friday when they participate Union College Invitational.   Their first match is against Skidmore College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
