Red Dragons Top Hartwick in Double Overtime

Stoll Scores Twice for Oneonta Including Game Winner

Box Score

Junior #Ainsley Stoll (Williamsville/Williamsville North)# connected on a hard shot from inside the circle 8:41 into the second sudden-death overtime period giving SUNY Oneonta a 3-2 double overtime victory over cross-town rival Hartwick on Tuesday evening at SUNY Oneonta's All College Field.
Stoll's goal came after the two teams played a scoreless first overtime period and was the first goal for either team since Oneonta scored 5:46 into the second half.
Hartwick (9-5) jumped out to an early lead 12:26 into the game when freshman Kelsey Kimble took a pass from junior Jen Kaye and put it in the back of the goal for a 1-0 lead.
Oneonta (8-8) tied it eight-minutes later when junior #Kim Solazzo (Standfordville/Pine Plains)# sent a shot at the goal amid a scramble inside the circle. The ball crossed the line before Hartwick could stop it giving Solazzo her first collegiate goal and point.
Coming out of the halftime huddle tied at 1-1, the Hawks wasted little time before striking in the second half. After a shot by Kimble was stopped by Oneonta goalie #Leslie Dauphinais (Harpursville/Harpursville)#1:52 into the half, Hartwick sophomore Brittany Baughman collected the rebound off the save and put it in the back of the goal to make it 2-1 in favor of the Hawks.
The Red Dragons continued to play hard and countered with a goal of their own tying it four-minutes later when Stoll took a cross from freshman #Ashley Johnson (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs)# and put it in the goal to make it 2-2.
The Red Dragons finished the game with a slight 15-14 advantage in shots while also holding the edge in penalty corners 12-11.
Dauphinais earned the victory in goal for the Red Dragons playing all 93:41 minutes and making six saves while junior Mackenzie Chapman (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) made three saves in the complete game for Hartwick.
The Red Dragons will return to action on Wednesday, October 28th when they travel to Utica College for a game beginning at 5:00 p.m.
