SUNY Oneonta Athletics

Entering her fourth season at the helm of the Oneonta women's lacrosse team, head coach Mackenzie King has helped the Red Dragons to SUNYAC playoff appearances for three straight seasons (2024-26).

The 2026 season marked her strongest yet at 10-6 overall and 6-3 in the SUNYAC. Oneonta recorded its first playoff win since 2022 with a 16-10 win over Fredonia in the first round to reach the SUNYAC Semifinals. Eight Red Dragons recorded All-SUNAY honors with Ava Fitzsimons named the SUNYAC Co-Rookie of the Year. 

The Red Dragons reached the SUNYAC Tournament in 2024 and 2025, two players were named All-SUNYAC in 2024, and three in 2025. 

During her career at RIT, King scheduled practices and individual training for the student-athletes and directed youth camps and prospect clinics. She also volunteered with the RIT women's lacrosse team for ROCE6, a local empowerment program for the inner city of Rochester's youth through lacrosse.

Before RIT, King was the assistant coach at Brockport from 2020 to 2022 under Stephen Wagner. She also worked as an intern to the athletic director, Erick Hart, to organize bus schedules and weekly events for the department. King helped the university's coaches and athletes reach and maintain NCAA eligibility and collaborate with peers on achieving the school's strategic plan and budget.

King was a head coach at 3D Common Goal Lacrosse, a club team out of Rochester, NY, from 2019 to 2021. In that role, she organized practices for all competitions and helped athletes through the recruiting process.

King was a 2019 SUNY Potsdam graduate, earning a bachelor's degree in both Communications and Business Administration. She was also a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team, playing Defense. King went on to receive her Master's of Education with a concentration in Athletic Administration from SUNY Brockport in 2022.
