Santangelo joins the staff as a first-year assistant after a brilliant four-year career with the Red Dragons.  Among numerous highlights, Santangelo was a key component for back-to-back NCAA Division III tournament semifinal appearances in 2014 and 2015.
 
Santangelo graduated this past May with a Communications degree.  His athletic accolades include being a four-time All-SUNYAC selection twice on the First Team.  He was selected twice as an All-Region performer and was the conference and ECAC Upstate New York Rookie of the year in 2014.  Santangelo played in 87 games starting 65 during his career collecting 73 points on 31 goals and 11 assists.
 
During his tenure as a player, Santangelo helped lead the program to three SUNYAC championships, three Mayor’s Cup tournament titles, a pair of SUNYAC regular season championships and four NCAA tournament appearances.  He was the recipient of the Dr. Joseph Heissan ’63 Senior Achievement Award from the athletics department.
 
Santangelo is currently enrolled in the Master of Science program for Physical Education at Hofstra University.  He is taking classes here at Oneonta that he will transfer before he attends Hofstra as a full time graduate student in January 2019.

Santangelo’s older sister Kelly played D1 soccer at Loyola of MD, and his brother Craig played soccer at Union College.
