Nick Jacoby and Anthony Loia Named CSC Academic All-District

Two Red Dragons Awarded CSC Baseball Academic All-District

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta baseball team had two student-athletes achieve College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors on Tuesday. Recent graduates Nick Jacoby (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) and Anthony Loia (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) earn recognition for the first time.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. Nominated athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's contests. For pitchers, at least 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched are required.

Jacoby graduated with a 3.56 cumulative GPA, studying sport management. He started 38 games for the Red Dragons, finishing the season with 34 hits, 32 runs, 20 RBI, 10 doubles, two triples, and one home run. Defensively, Jacoby played first and third base with a .958 fielding percentage, 160 putouts, 44 assists, and 20 double plays.

Loia graduated with a 3.59 GPA in biology. He moved into the lineup and started 32 games with 23 hits, 11 runs, three doubles, and nine RBI. Loia was perfect in the outfield with a 1.000 fielding percentage and 34 putouts.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 23.
