ONEONTA, N.Y. -- For the second straight week, Oneonta men's lacrosse senior
Jamie O'Neil (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) received the SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week award for the week of April 13-19, announced by the conference Monday afternoon. O'Neil finished the week with eight points off three goals and five assists, collected three ground balls, caused two turnovers and made SUNYAC history by becoming the conference's all-time career points leader as Oneonta went 1-0 with a win in league play.
The Red Dragon senior's eight-point performance led Oneonta to a commanding 20-10 SUNYAC victory against Oswego. In the first quarter against the Lakers, O'Neil assisted senior
Daniel Macchiarella (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) on a man-up goal to break the previous SUNYAC career points record of 286 set by Cortland's Zach Hopps in 2016. O'Neil, who currently has 292 career points, leads the league with 45 assists this season and is tied for second with 74 points.
Oneonta is currently 7-7 this season with a 4-1 record in the SUNYAC and is on the road for their next conference match on Wednesday, April 22, in Plattsburgh starting at 4 pm.
