FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Oneonta women's basketball team fell on the road to Fredonia, 57-49, in SUNYAC play Saturday afternoon. Junior
Carlie Young (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville Central) finished with the game-high 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals. The result moved the Red Dragons to 8-6 this season, 3-4 in SUNYAC play, and improved the Blue Devils to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

Lidia Boucher (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) helped Oneonta gain a 7-3 lead at 5:22 with a corner jumper to start the game off, then she hit a pair at the line. Fredonia ended the quarter with a 15-6 run to take an 18-13 advantage into the second quarter.
The Red Dragons started the second period with a 9-3 stretch to get within a point. Junior
Megan Desrats (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) found freshman
Kayla Beaudoin (Brunswick, NY/Tamarac) on an inbound pass for a jumper to ignite the stretch, then Desrats banked a running jump shot off the glass. After Young drained a deep two from the top of the arc, freshman
Sydney Pleat (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) sank a jumper from the wing to make it a 22-21 deficit at 4:14. The Blue Devils ended the half on a 9-3 run for a 31-24 lead.
Boucher hit a jumper to start the third quarter and shrink the deficit to five, but Fredonia answered with a 9-1 run to take a 40-27 advantage at 5:14. Sophomore
Leela Guobadia (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) recorded five points in an 8-1 Red Dragon run to bring them back to within six, however the Blue Devils closed out the quarter with a three, a free throw, and a 45-35 lead.
Young scored 12 of the team's 14 points in the final quarter. Oneonta made it a six-point game after Young knocked down a jumper with 7:51 to play, but Fredonia pulled away for a 57-44 game with 2:31 left. Young closed out the contest with a triple and a layup for the final score.
Guobadia finished with nine points, five boards and two blocks, while Boucher ended up with eight points and two rebounds.
The Blue Devils 34.6 percent from the field and finished with a 40-35 rebounding advantage. Fredonia was led by Jakeira Stackhouse with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Grace Alexander with 13 points, and Jayssa Snelick with 11 points and 11 boards. The Red Dragons shot 29.9 percent from the floor.
Oneonta is back on the court on Tuesday, January 20, for a SUNYAC game in Oswego at 5:30 pm.
